Shy Little Girl

Bipasha Tamang, 6, from Sindhupalchowk, resides with her mother. Bipasha had a complicated birth history. Her birth was complicated by prolonged labor and a delayed cry. Her parents were unaware of her condition, and she has not received any medical intervention.

Despite these challenges, her parents are determined to improve their family's circumstances. Her mother weaves carpets to provide financial support, while her father works abroad.

Bipasha was diagnosed with left hemiplegic cerebral palsy only upon arrival at Muna Nepal Organization. Before this, she had received no medical treatment or therapies. Following an evaluation, a tailored treatment plan was developed to address her needs. Her left hand was severely neglected, and her left leg was mildly affected. She presented herself as extremely shy, consistently looking down and seeking her mother's presence.

Despite language barriers, Bipasha made significant strides in her social and emotional development. She began using her affected hand for tasks and confidently participated in group plays. Her three-week intensive stay at Muna Nepal brought her joy. Witnessing these positive changes, her mother is committed to continuing therapy at home and enrolling her in school for further socialization. Bipasha's story underscores the importance of early intervention, as well as the positive impact of family support and encouragement.
